How to submit your work to offcuts....

People keep messaging us through myspace and youtube asking how to submit their work to the festival. Its dead easy.

go to our website www.offcuts.org. if you;ve already seen our kick a** viral, press the skip button on the tv to go to the home page.

if you want to really get us going, check out the bands on the band page and pick a track to shoot a music video to. email us at info@offcuts.org with a brief description of the music video you want to make. we will email you the mp3 and a release form from teh artist.

you then have until the end of the december to make a music video that will the blow the minds of us, our audience and if you're lucky, the industry panel (there can only be one winner....)

but then again maybe you've shot something in the past two years that is fresh, quirky and utterly original. if you're really clever you've had permission from the band to use the music.

if this is the case you can submit it.
download the submission form from the selection criteria page of the site, you won't need a release form because you know better than to submit something you don't have the right to use the music for.. right?

we're excited about everything we've had so far but we want so see much more. what we've been seeing of your work on myspace and youtube lets us know a lot of you can definitely..cut it.

and uk filmmakers, represent!!!
those new yorkers have been submitting a lot thus far, and we've even been getting emails from filmmakers in portugal, poland and brazil.

we know there's a lot of uk talent out there and we want to see it.

above all else people? submit, submit, submit and please spread the word!!!!!!!!

xx offcuts

what are we on about?

do you remember when music videos were an art form you could genuinely get excited about?? when every madonna, prince and michael jackson video was a mini revelation for the medium? a time where in america you might actually stay up late to see all of the really wierd or really sexual on mtv's twilight programmes. do you remember literally spending hours watching mtv, watching any music video channel in a bar or pub?

and then this thing called youtube came along. suddenly you found yourself spending far too much time watching videos again, but this time was better because you could share those videos in all sorts of ways, emailing them, embedding them in myspace comments or in your blog.

but have you ever stopped and realized just how much sh*t there is on youtube? sometimes you really want to find a music video of your favourite band, but to find it you have to trawl through hundreds of "home-made while at home really really bored with a video camera" videos. you want to see more, you want it uncensored, but there really are some things that are not even so bad they are good.

We are a small team of people from film, animation and new media backgrounds. What we want to do is build a hub between filmmakers and bands. We're going to launch with a music video competition, but we've got much bigger plans than that. Tag along for the ride, we'll keep you posted..
